Monday Matt tells me that he has a bad headache. We get home from work and he's miserable. My dad comes over to pick up Lucy, his beagle and to go to dinner. Matt couldn't even go to dinner because he was so uncomfortable. Tuesday morning he has a temperature of 101.8 so he stays home from work and his headache grows into a migraine. We relaxed all evening until about 8pm and then he was in really bad pain still with a high fever. So we head to the emergency room at 9pm. They immediately started fluids and antibiotics (just in case it was meningitis), run all kinds of blood work, and he sleeps.

The Dr comes in about 12:30am and ordered a CT scan. They took him back around 1:30am. At 2:15am they told us the CT scan was fine so they wanted to do a spinal tap to check for meningitis. I had to sign a bunch of forms allowing the spinal tap and they finally got started. At about 4:45am they told us the spinal tap was fine which was great news, but still left us wondering what was wrong. The Dr gave him a prescription for some pain medicine and released him. As the nurse was taking all of the IVs out, I went to uncover Matt. When I felt his chest, he was on fire! I asked the nurse to please take his temperature...turns out it was 102.5. He gave Matt 1gram of Tylenol and sent us on our way with no answers. The next couple of days the fever went down but the migraine stayed. Over the weekend, the migraine subsided but then he started having a new issue. Anytime he would sit down, he would get a really sharp pain at the base of his head. He described it as having a low pony tail and someone tugging really hard on it constantly.
We met with a neurologist who did all kinds of exercises to try and figure out what was happening. In the end he determined that there was a leak in Matt's spinal cord from the spinal tap. He prescribed steroids for 10 days. He also informed us that the original issue was probably just something viral that caused the headache and fever and had he not had the spinal tap, his issues would have all subsided within a couple of days! Wonderful, UGH! My poor husband!
We took my sweet baby nephew to his first Astro's game!

On a wonderful note! We finally got to see Cassy and Will after TWO MONTHS! They came over Friday night, we went to Lopez, and tried to learn the dance from something borrowed. FUN night. Saturday we let Cassy sleep a little while Will played in Matt's shoes. Cutest scene ever. Then we took him to the pool to play. He was in heaven. He wanted to go down the slide and climb up and down the stairs over and over again. Precious.
