Saturday March 31, we woke up and ate breakfast. We talked to the front desk to see what our options were for going to Bora Bora. Everyone we talked to was going there and we just knew we would regret it if we didn't!

Ticket to Bora Bora
|
The lady at the front desk told us that we had to go to the airport to get our tickets and that the cheapest, easiest way was to just rent bikes and ride over there. WRONG! It was SO hot even at 930am. We were both pretty miserable. We finally made it to the airport, got our tickets, and tried to find a cab to take us back to the hotel....but the only 2 that were around, refused to take out bikes back as well :( We toughed it out and made it back in one piece :)
That day we got packed up and hung around at the pool waiting for our cab to take us back to the ferry. We took the ferry back to Moorea and met some friends on the way. A couple from Argentina who were also on their honeymoon. We took a cab to the airport in Papeete, checked in for our flights, and waited around for a while until it was time for our flight to Bora Bora.
We finally made it to the island late on Saturday night. The airport is on the water, so there was a boat waiting for us when we arrived to take us to the Pearl Resort. The people there are SO nice. I love the fact that everyone addressed us as "Mr&Mrs Solomon" the entire time :)

Sunday we rented snorkel gear and a paddle boat. We paddled right up to our room, which was so cool. Then we took the paddle boat back to the beach because our legs were killing us. We snorkeled a good ways out and saw some breathtaking coral and fish.We even saw clown fish swimming in an anemone! We found NEMO! :)

We had lunch by the pool, then headed back to our room and found that our friends Scott and Julie had arrived...and were staying in the room right next to us! We swam around our room and just hung out for the rest of the day...

Monday we went on another sting ray and shark excursion. Matt really has a love for sea life, so we really enjoyed it. The guides were absolutely hilarious. They made plenty of jokes, sang along with a drum and
ukulele, and took us around the entire island by boat to complete the tour. That afternoon we napped and got ready for our night out!

We went to Bloody Mary's with a whole crew! The Australian's, Austinites, and another Australian couple we met on the boat from the airport to the hotel, Tammy & Steve. While we were at another, another couple came over and joined us...they were from London, also on their Honeymoon! It was such a fun night.

The next morning at breakfast was pretty hilarious. Everyone was showing up feeling pretty bad. I pulled my signature "sneak away" move around midnight, so I was feeling fine :)
We packed up and headed back to Papeete. Out flight back to LA was the next morning at 6am, so we stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel in another over water bungalow. We went shopping in downtown Papeete and found that it was not like Mexico! All of the little souvenir's we were expecting to bring back for everyone, were SO expensive! We had our cab driver take us through the drive thru at McDonald's :) and went back tot he hotel to eat.

| Leaving Bora Bora :( |
Here's where it gets AWESOME (NOT!!) There were signs all over our room advising not to leave your belongings on the balcony or to leave the sliding doors unlocked when you weren't in the room, due to high activity of breaks ins and items being stolen. People can just take a boat or swim right up to the room and access your stuff. We went outside on our balcony to check out the not so spectacular views compared to Bora Bora. When we went to go back inside, the sliding glass doors were LOCKED! I freaked out. There were sea urchins everywhere in the water...so it wasn't like we could just walk through it to get back to our room, plus we didn't have our room key, so we needed the hotel staff to let us in. Matt carefully made it through the water and onto land. I stayed on the balcony and super scared. He was gone about 10 minutes the first time. He came back and we waited for the hotel staff to show up.This happened THREE times! He kept having to leave me and I was freaking out. When we did finally get back into the room, we immediately grabbed our bags and demanded to be moved to another. I did not want to get stuck out over the water by myself again, once we found out the sliding doors automatically locked.
The flight back to LA was ok, it was a day flight so we were up the whole 8 hours and we were delayed. We had a connecting flight to San Francisco waiting for us, and we could have made it if it weren't for the slackers at LAX. So we hung out in the United lounge until the next flight and finally got to San Fran around midnight.on Thursday we went to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. We had lunch and watched the seals. We drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and then stopped to take pics of it. We drove to Napa and got checked into our hotel/apartment. Napped and then headed out. We had dinner at Bounty Hunter and it was AMAZING. It's a BBQ place that makes their own wine! Deeeeeelish :)

On Friday we got up and went to breakfast at Soscol Cafe. Matt found it online and read really good reviews that were the honest truth! So yummy! We headed out in our convertible to our first winery reservation at Cake Bread. Our friends, Matt & Whitney Rubin set us up with a Reserve Room tasting of some awesome wines and even had a bottle waiting for us as a gift! Then we hit Peju and Pine Ridge, both were fantastic. For dinner we went to ZuZu and had tapas. It was an exhausting, but amazing way to end our Honeymoon!
